Your defintion of B2B helps the reader to understand the marketing concept. I would say that it is probably a greater risk, as you mention, because if you miss the target you may lose reputation and customers. As your hub indicates, you must know your customer and their needs in order to effectively market your product.

Surveys work well in getting general information but my thoughts are that observing stats, trends and spending/purchases will also help target marketing. Great hub topic and one that brings us up to date on what is happening in the marketing world. Voted up!
